Supreme Kazak Large Hand Knotted Rug Product Description

This beautiful wool rug is the Kazak design and is mainly made by the Hazara Tribes of Afghanistan. The design and patterns of Kazak rugs are taken from old Caucasian rugs, Caucasian carpets are from the areas south, east and north of the mountain chain of the Caucasus, Russia. The wool yarns used are all hand spun and dyed using only natural dyes such as cochineal and indigo, which adds to their dramatic and vibrant appearance. Once dyed and hand knotted on a cotton warp base in Afghanistan the rugs are then transported over to Pakistan where they are expertly finished including washing and trimming. The production of the Kazak rug is authentic to its origin, created by hand which is called ‘’ChappatBaft’’ or Flat woven. This Kazak rug is traditional in colour using a bold red dye and the design mainly including both small and large geometrical motifs. The designs are predominantly bold and typically include a mixture of diamond and circle shapes as well as representations of animals, people and nature.
